People from Jacksonville are sometimes called "Jacksonvillians" or "Jaxsons" (also spelled "Jaxons"). My brother, Randy Dix, was at Palm Garden for 20 days for rehab to regain his walking ability. The first person I met was Meiche Taylor, Director of Transitional Services. Over and over again, request during the day or after work hours, Meiche got them answered - and in this day, that is a service not found that often and in such a knowledgeable and friendly way. I also found everyone else just as on top of what was going on and very responsive to request, such as Meichell in social services. She made sure everything was taken care of including getting Randy’s food delivered to his door shortly after Randy arrived back at his apartment.

They're very small and the rooms have two beds. I met one of the residents, she was very friendly, and has been there for several years. She appeared healthy and happy, and that meant a lot to me. To be able to meet a resident is very neat, and the lady that showed us around was very considerate. The place is in a vulnerable state right now because it's in transition.
